EXPERIENCE
Stephen Leitner began his career as an attorney after graduating from New York Law School, J.D. and thereafter New York University Law School with a Master of Law, L.L.M. After serving as house counsel for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company he became a partner with O’Brien, Brett, Martin & Leitner. The firms were merged in 1978 forming Michals, Wahl, Silver & Leitner. In 2000, the firm became known as Leitner, Tort & DeFazio, and is now proudly called Leitner Tort DeFazio & Brause, P.C..
Specializing in Workers’ Compensation, Mr. Leitner has always taken interest in the difficult cases. He was awarded the Jack O’Brien Award for Excellence in Workers’ Compensation for his professionalism and integrity. He has shared his knowledge by teaching Workers’ Compensation courses at the Institute of Continuing Legal Education for over 30 years and has presented seminars before the New Jersey Self-Insured Association.
Stephen Leitner has served on several committees of the New Jersey State Bar Association, and was president of the program committee. He is also a member of the Zoning Board of Adjustments in his town and is an active member of the Rotary Club. Living in Mantoloking, NJ with his wife Lynn, they enjoy spending their free time with their children and grandchildren.
